JPMorgan Chase has appointed Ryland McClendon as leader of its junior banker program to address concerns about working conditions for young employees in investment banking. McClendon, who has been with the bank for nearly 14 years, will focus on supporting analysts’ and associates’ wellbeing and professional success. The move comes after the death of a Bank of America associate in May, which led to increased scrutiny of long working hours on Wall Street. In response, JPMorgan has set a cap of 80 working hours per week for junior bankers.
